About Us
The White Horse Resale brings together authentic Native American jewelry, meaningful artist relationships, and one-of-a-kind pieces selected to be worn, treasured, and passed down.

A Love for Turquoise. A Legacy Worth Sharing.
I’m Dawn Dawson, owner of The White Horse Resale, though many customers know me simply as “The Dealer,” a horse girl with a lifelong love for turquoise. My appreciation for Native American jewelry began more than 40 years ago while attending shows with my mother, and we still enjoy traveling and collecting together today. After raising four children and spending more than 30 years in corporate retail, I began wondering what the next season of my life might hold.
In 2020, while I was considering opening a boutique, the pandemic deeply affected my dear friend, Navajo artist and silversmith Joe Hijoe. Joe had to close his shop to the public and could no longer travel to shows to sell his jewelry. I told him, “You just make things, and I’ll figure out how to sell them online.” What began with small Facebook sales grew into a private Facebook community with weekly sales and eventually The White Horse Resale website.
The business is named in honor of my late trail horse, Sam. Sam came into my life with a history of abuse while I was balancing family life and a high-stress career. Working safely with him taught me to leave my mental to-do list behind, become fully present, and meet him exactly where he was each day. He was my greatest challenge and one of my greatest blessings. After many wonderful years together, Sam now rests on our family farm, forever watching over the place he called home. His legacy of patience, peace, trust, and meaningful connection remains at the heart of The White Horse Resale.
Today, we work directly with Native American artists from the Navajo Nation, Santo Domingo Pueblo, and Zuni Pueblo, as well as reputable suppliers in New Mexico and Arizona. With more than 50 years of silversmithing experience, Joe continues to create remarkable pieces, provide our in-house sizing and repairs, and advise us on purchasing and sourcing. My husband, Adam, is also a large part of the business, bringing his love of rocks and lapidary work to many of the special pieces we create together.
Every piece is ethically sourced and selected for its quality, artistry, and meaning, regardless of price point. We see this jewelry as wearable art that carries beauty, culture, history, and the good medicine placed into it by its maker. Our hope is that each piece brings its wearer a sense of protection and peace and can be collected and worn with pride. Of course, our customers and I also like to say that we are all going to turquoise jail together, and we are going to have a great time while we’re there!
